Good things come in small packages, and Johnny Butterflyseed is proving just that by transitioning to smaller seed packets for 2024.
We’ve resized our packets from the standard seed packet size of 4.5″ x 3.25″ weighing 4 grams with labels, to a more compact #1 coin envelope, we are calling a Micropacket, which is 3.5″ x 2.25″ and only 1.2 grams with labels. It may seem like a minor change, but the benefits are substantial for both our customers and the planet.
More Seeds, Less Waste
One of the most immediate advantages of our smaller packets is that they allow for more weight to be allocated to the seeds themselves. This means we can provide you with more of what you want—seeds—while minimizing waste.
Lighter Loads, Lower Emissions
Smaller packets mean lighter shipping loads. Lighter loads translate to less fuel consumption during transportation, which in turn results in lower carbon emissions. It’s a small step, but every effort counts when it comes to reducing our carbon footprint.
Maintaining Free Shipping
The reduced weight and size of our new packets also allow us to maintain our Free Shipping offer on all orders. Smaller, lighter packets are less expensive to ship, and we’re passing those savings on to you by keeping shipping costs at zero.
An Eco-Friendly Approach
Beyond cost and convenience, the move to smaller packets reflects our broader commitment to sustainability and ecological responsibility. Less material used in the packets means fewer resources are extracted from the Earth, and less waste ends up in landfills.
Conclusion
The transition to smaller seed packets is more than just a size reduction—it’s a strategic move aligned with Johnny Butterflyseed’s commitment to provide quality seeds while caring for our planet. We’re excited about this change and believe that our customers will appreciate the multiple benefits that come with it… one day at a time!
